“Help a Stranger and Shed a Little Happiness”
The purpose of our
being is to serve humanity and to offer that service with our love. Too often we are not aware of situations
outside our own family circle. It is
that that tends to draw on our attentions most of the time.
Until we are able to think beyond these
parameters, Mankind can never be saved.
It is not enough to help a small group of people, but to extend our love
and service beyond the concerns of the family.
Many of us do not have families. We are without, yet we still share what we
have with others to bring about a wellbeing that was not enjoyed before.
All the world needs help in one way or
another and money is not always the answer.
It is the practical hands-on help, which is so required where a person’s
garden could be attended to now and again or the picking up of shopping – to
offer help in whatever is needed within the community.
The community spirit is not dead and lost
to us. It is thriving in so many towns
and villages. It is that rare breed of
people, who undertake to do works on a voluntary basis, which allows goodwill
to come in.
We all need help at some point in our lives
and it is always given, not necessarily by those we would think would give it,
but mostly by those whose idea to help is but second nature to them.
For all those people who surround this
world, we are eternally grateful as they are so needed. The tragedy is that there are not enough of
them to take on those many tasks that this world is now facing, so it needs a
collective force, an impetus of goodwill to help all those who are in need.
As the world gets ever more bogged down
with negative situations, so it requires more spiritual loving people to help
to raise it up again. The darker the
situation gets the stronger the light must be in order for us to see and to
remove the fear that often haunts us into despair.
Help a stranger, a neighbour you don’t
really know and shed a little happiness.
When the need arises, you then won’t be found wanting.

They could easily give to
eradicate child poverty
Child poverty in the UK could be eradicated if money was spent in
this important aspect instead of bailing out our reckless banking system. As
usual children and poverty are at the lowest importance where matters of
money, status and greed are at the higher priority. Many millionaires in the
UK, pop stars especially with over £650 million pounds, could easily give to
eradicate child poverty. Most haven’t even bothered to pay for a baby
incubator in their own hospitals, such is their limited care. The priority in
this day and age is greed and that is why this world is in the mess it is in.

Some good news from ‘The
Elephants Trunk’
The war on illegal ivory is now turning. It has been a vast exercise. Too many
elephants have been exterminated for China’s insatiable appetite for
ivory. To kill such a magnificent
animal to obtain tusks for ornamental reasons shows a warped mind. It means
life is not sacred to them.
Until the culture of ivory changes the battle to keep these
magnificent creatures alive is a very difficult task indeed. Inspite of all the sufferings, these
creatures have endured. There is now
light at the end of the tunnel, as more awareness and education is being
given. Hope to the elephant is now there!

Not so good news on Global
Warming
Who said Global Warming doesn’t exist? The amount of devastation
due to massive climatic changes is affecting every one of us. Every country
throughout the world at this time is suffering from the effects of climatic
conditions and we are powerless to stop it.
Wake up people! Start to take an interest and for Governments to
be guided by what the scientists are calling The New Age of Concern!
Colorado will be a disaster zone for many years to come. Even next year will again see more fast
fires. The land won’t be able to recover for quite a while

The desecration and
ignorance in Timbuktu
The damage to Muslim shrines in Timbuktu, Mali, is of great
concern. Whatever your beliefs, these shrines are famous for their
distinctive architecture and honour those people who built them. Like the pyramids,
they represent the culture at that time. Timbuktu was a centre of Islamic
learning and commerce. To deny their existence denies the people and their
extensive learning of science, literature and the law at that time. It proves
that Islamist fighters, who damage these shrines, have no cultural value and
should never be regarded with any kind of intelligence. Those who are
educated honour all culture and respect those countries beliefs.

The Very Sad Story of Lonesome
George and Unfrequented love
Staff at the Galapagos National Park in
Ecuador say Lonesome George, a giant tortoise believed to be the last of its
subspecies, has died.
Scientists estimate he was about 100 years old. Park officials said
they would carry out a post-mortem to determine the cause of his death. With no
offspring and no known individuals from his subspecies left, Lonesome George
became known as the rarest creature in the world.
For decades, environmentalists
unsuccessfully tried to get the Pinta Island tortoise to reproduce with females
from a similar subspecies on the Galapagos Islands. Park officials said the
tortoise was found dead in his corral by his keeper of 40 years, Fausto
Llerena.
While his exact age was not known, Lonesome
George was estimated to be about 100, which made him a young adult as the
subspecies can live up to an age of 200. Lonesome George was first seen by a Hungarian scientist on the
Galapagos island of Pinta in 1972. Environmentalists had believed his
subspecies (Chelonoidis nigra abingdoni) had become extinct.
Lonesome George became part of the
Galapagos National Park breeding programme. After 15 years of living with a
female tortoise from the nearby Wolf volcano, Lonesome George did mate, but the
eggs were infertile. He also shared his corral with female tortoises from
Espanola island, which are genetically closer to him than those from Wolf
volcano, but Lonesome George failed to mate with them.
Tortoises were plentiful on the Galapagos
islands until the late 19th century, but were later hunted for their meat by
sailors and fishermen to the point of extinction. Their habitat furthermore
suffered when goats were introduced from the mainland.

It’s official – in America at
least!
There
is no evidence that mermaids exist, a US government scientific agency has said.
The National Ocean Service made the unusual declaration in response to public
inquiries following a TV show on the mythical creatures.
It is thought some viewers may have
mistaken the programme for a documentary.
"No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found," the
service wrote in an online post.
